Breaking Barriers: Advancing Women’s Leadership in Healthcare

I founded SNIWWOC 10 years ago because of my own struggles with lack of culturally sensitive health care. Our organization was built on a simple but urgent belief: that healthcare must be equitable, inclusive, and culturally safe for all

10 years later, we are still in a critical moment. Healthcare workers—especially women, particularly those from marginalized communities—are bearing the brunt of systemic inequities. They are overworked, under-supported, and too often navigating institutions that fail to recognize the unique barriers they face. At SNIWWOC, we see this reality every day, and we are taking action.

The 2025 Healthcare Summit is more than just a gathering—it’s a call to action.

Women in healthcare—especially racialized women—continue to face burnout, pay disparities, workplace harassment, and systemic racism. These challenges not only harm healthcare workers but also negatively impact patient care and outcomes. Here are three key initiatives driving change at SNIWWOC:
Culturally Safe Mental Health Support – Addressing burnout and racial trauma through therapy programs available to racialized healthcare workers.
Policy Advocacy – Tackling workplace inequities, including pay transparency and safer work environments.
Training & Leadership Development – Offering Allyned By SNIWWOC, a program that equips healthcare professionals with tools to dismantle racism and foster equity.
